What: 20-minute Comedic Interactive Game Show

Where: 2024 Midsummer Scream Horror Convention - Long Beach, CA

When: July 27, 2024

Why: I was once again tasked with creating an event for the Midsummer Scream After Dark event, with this year’s theme being “Party for the Recently Deceased (Beetlejuice)”. Since all guests would be treated like they just died in the world of Beetlejuice, I created a Neitherworld Game Show and two original characters, Skip Winkman (host) and Debbie Dawson (assistant/model). We performed 4 shows for an audience of 150, choosing three members from the audience to participate as our contestants in a series of ghost-based trivia and “metaphysical challenges”. The end of each round meant one contestant had to be banished to the “sandworm door”, where we had a projection of the sandworm planet behind it. At the end of the game, a sandworm breaks free and attacks the room, causing the lights to go out and general pandamonium. This was a really fun show to work on, and seemed to have a great reception!
