What: An hour-long 80’s-themed immersive experience

Why: I was approached by immersive friends Katy Foley and Lena Valentine regarding an idea to create a sequel show based on an in-person event they had created for the Hollywood Fringe Festival years prior called “Office Christmas Party”. They wanted to use the same format to turn back time and create a similar office party experience that would take place in the 1980s. We worked together on the concept and, due to Covid restrictions, how to adapt it to an online experience. What we created was a super fun event where guests were encouraged to put together an 80s business casual outfit from their closet, flip their ponytail to the side, and fill a coffee mug with a cocktail as we welcomed them to a mandatory office party. Team-building was encouraged so they were sent off to breakout rooms with certain actors portraying wacky co-workers to play fun games and interact, and a select few were brought into the boss’s office to discuss their work and any hot gossip in the office. Ultimately it was revealed to be the birthday of April, the secretary and hardest working employee in the company (which everyone forgot), so a last minute effort had everyone running through their home to find something to present as a birthday gift.
