IMMERSIVE

Who: Team Leader/Writer/Director/Ensemble Peformer

What: A 15-minute immersive experience titled “Respect the Time”, conceived and produced in under 48 hours as part of the Los Angeles Immersive Invitational. It was performed for groups of eight in a number of repeated cycles.

Where: Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles (Downtown LA)

When: May 2022

Why: Having competed in the last Los Angeles Immersive Invitational back in 2019, I was invited to compete against seven well-established LA-based immersive companies for 2022. I put a team of talented actor and immersive friends together and we randomly drew one of the eight available spaces (a nondescript blackbox). We were also given a general theme of “Inter-dimensional Science Fair”. We came up with a concept of a middle school science fair of time travelers, so some guests would be pulled in and partnered up with such students from time as a cave boy, a girl from Pompeii, a puritan witch-hunter, a girl of child labor from the industrial revolution, and a boy from the future. The rest of the guests were judges as each team presented their science fair project, and a wise janitor cleaned up spills. We went on to be awarded “BEST ENSEMBLE” and, despite being exhausted, had an absolute blast!
