IMMERSIVE

Who: Writer/Director

What: A 90-minute scripted immersive experience combining vampires, characters from the sitcom “Cheers”, and an interactive murder mystery to solve!

Where: The Roguelike Tavern, Burbank, CA; The Three Clubs, Los Angeles, CA

When: 2022; 2023

Why: On Halloween 2021, I tasked myself with writing an immersive experience for a nearby bar in Burbank, The Roguelike Tavern. I had been watching a lot of Cheers during the pandemic, so it seemed fitting to try my hands at a sort of spec script for the show. At the same time, I had an idea in my head to use vampires for a show in some way, utilizing dry ice to make it look like steam was rising from their bodies when sprayed with (holy) water. I then realized a character on Cheers, Lilith, shares a common name with one of a high honor in vampire lore. Thus, Boston Bar Bloodsuckers was born! I knew I wanted it to be a murder mystery, so I spent the year watching as many murder mysteries as possible, learning how you not only solve a mystery, but how to explain it to an audience so they understand as simply as possible. Utilizing physical clues, a sitcom laugh track, and an amazing and willing cast, the show was produced and turned out fangtastic! I recently revamped (sorry) the show for the 2023 Hollywood Fringe Festival, where we had a short run at The Three Clubs in Hollywood.
